At Hurworth, we believe in recognising and celebrating students for their achievements, effort, progress and positive contribution to our school community.
Throughout the school day, students can earn positive points through Arbor, recognising positive behaviour, effort and achievement. Students can also receive Wheel of Wonder tickets at any point during the school day when they demonstrate our 4R values. These tickets contribute to our popular Wheel of Wonder assemblies, where students have the opportunity to receive a range of rewards and prizes.
Once a week, IGNITE time is dedicated to rewards and celebration. This gives tutor groups the opportunity to recognise individual and collective successes, celebrate achievements and see the latest standings in our very competitive Tutor Group Leaderboard. The leaderboard encourages a strong sense of teamwork and belonging, with tutor groups working together towards shared success.
Our Rewards Station is also open every Friday, with invited students given the opportunity to visit and receive recognition for their positive choices, effort and contribution to school life. Teachers regularly recognise individual achievement through initiatives such as Student of the Week, with positive communication home helping us to celebrate success with families.
Each year, our Evening to Celebrate Achievement provides another opportunity to recognise students for their achievements across academic subjects, sport, personal development and wider school life.
Celebration is complemented by our programme of weekly year-group assemblies, which explores important themes linked to personal development, our school values and the wider world. We also hold special assemblies and events throughout the year to respond to key national and whole-school themes.
Together, our rewards and celebration programme helps to create a culture where effort, progress, achievement and living our 4R values are noticed and celebrated. Through individual recognition, tutor group competition and whole-school celebrations, we aim to strengthen students’ sense of belonging, pride and contribution to the Hurworth community.
